A Farmhouse Reborn
This iconic New England farmhouse project included a full kitchen, mudroom and first-floor bathroom renovation. The original long and linear kitchen layout was dated, typical of the era in which the timber-frame house was built. An addition allowed for a more functional and contemporary kitchen, better suited to the scale and quality of this home, with integrated seating among a bank of windows, a sizeable butler’s pantry and a modern wood-burning fireplace. The generous kitchen island highlights an extraordinary slab of Pietra del Cardosa, a durable, honed texture, deep blue-grey metamorphic rock quarried in the Apuan Alps of Tuscany, Italy. Hand-made high-gloss subway tiles present a unique textured backdrop to the back pantry and cooking areas while the marble countertops are a beautiful offset to the wood cabinetry. The Hopper, a glacial bowl-shaped depression on the western-side of Mount Greylock, is the main attraction with expansive views from the ceramic farmhouse apron sink. This private home sits in an open meadow with a magical wooded forest as the backdrop, offering breathtaking views from all angles.
